Expressions of interest are invited from scholars and scholar/practitioners to contribute to the September issue of the journal. These should be sent to the General Editor as soon as possible.

Special focus issue: Popular entertainments in times of war

Although spurred on by the imminent centenary of World War 1, we invite contributions which address the role played by popular entertainments during wartime more generally. These might include for example, the uses of entertainment by both civilian and military personnel caught up in any of the conflicts of the last 300 years, the ways in which they have depicted or reflected issues particular to times of war, and perhaps the strategies for survival that the entertainments themselves provided. Articles should be submitted by 17 January 2014.
