Enrolment location
If you are successful in your application to the Joint Medical Program, your letter of offer will advise whether you have been accepted into the University of Newcastle or the University of New England. The universities run the Joint Medical Program as a partnership, and offer an identical program curriculum delivered at both locations.
You have the opportunity to indicate your preferred enrolment location, University of Newcastle or University of New England, as part of your direct university application; however, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted to your preferred location. The Joint Medical Program will allocate places at each university to applicants based on enrolment location preference, available places at each university and position on the ranked list.
Once you have received and accepted your offer, transfers between the two universities will only be considered under extenuating circumstances that have arisen after the acceptance of admission and commencement of study.
Changing your preferred enrolment location
If you wish to change your preferred enrolment location on your direct application, you can request to do so up until 6 December 2024. To change your enrolment location, please email jmpadmissions@newcastle.edu.au.
