Requirements for practical components

Students must satisfy a number of requirements in order to participate in the practical components of the Bachelor of Medicine – JMP.

Immunisations and paperwork

These requirements include obtaining a range of immunisations. If you are enrolling at UNE, it is recommended you see your current GP for immunisations and finalise your paperwork before you arrive. It can be difficult to secure a doctor’s appointment in Armidale and some immunisations take time to complete.

Students need to obtain or complete the following:

  • Student Undertaking Form
  • National Police Certificate or overseas equivalent
  • Signed children and young people student declaration form
  • Signed NSW Health code of conduct
  • Vaccination Record Card. This card will be available to students prior to commencement.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (read more »)

Please select your University of enrolment below for copies of the forms and detailed information on submitting your completed forms.

Clinical placement commitments

Most courses/units within the Bachelor of Medicine – JMP involve clinical placements and these placements vary in length. Applicants should be aware they will be required to undertake placement at Clinical School locations away from their university of enrolment. During Years 4 and 5, all students are required to complete at least one year (two semesters) at a metropolitan clinical school (Hunter/Central Coast). Please be prepared to pay for the additional expenses associated with travel and accommodation for these clinical placements.

Senior First Aid certificate

All commencing students must provide a current WorkCover approved Senior First Aid Certificate which indicates that CPR has been completed. The currency of First Aid certificates, including CPR, must be maintained throughout the program.

It is expected that First Aid courses will be available through both the University of Newcastle and University of New England early in Semester 1, each year.

Additional information concerning this requirement will be provided to students during orientation week. Enquiries should be directed to either the Enquiry Centre, University of Newcastle (Web: AskUoN) or the School of Rural Medicine, University of New England (Email: lrose4@une.edu.au).
