Central Coast Campus
Our Central Coast Campus at Ourimbah is less than an hour’s drive from northern Sydney and less than 15 minutes from beaches and bushland.
Central Coast is a campus shared by the University of Newcastle, TAFE NSW-Hunter Institute, and the Central Coast Community College, along with local businesses.
About the Central Coast Region
The Central Coast offers outstanding natural beauty and pristine beaches with loads of outdoor activities to keep you busy when you’re not at work.
It is located within 80 kilometres of Sydney and Newcastle, and is only 11/2 hours by road or rail from both city centres. With the Wyong shire, the City of Gosford forms the region known as the Central Coast of New South Wales.
The major population area is the Narara Valley in which Gosford is situated. The other main areas are the Woy Woy Peninsula, Terrigal, Erina, Kariong and Kincumber.
Many small villages are scattered along the coastal strip between Forrester’s Beach and the Bouddi Peninsula, as well as surrounding Brisbane Water and in the mountain districts west of the city.
The Central Coast region has a population of approximately 298,000.
Waterways
The outstanding natural beauty of the district and close proximity to major cities has made this area one of the most attractive living and recreation areas on the east coast of Australia.
There are many popular surfing beaches plus areas for fishing, sailing and other water pursuits.
The beaches, lakes and rivers are bordered by a hinterland of national parks and forests and the region supports a thriving tourism industry.
Shopping
There are seaside boutiques, antique and country style furniture stores as well as large shopping centres and factory outlets.
Café society
Dining out on the Central Coast offers a choice of international cuisines and culinary delights.
Restaurants take pride in serving fresh food of the highest standard.
There are dining experiences to suit every occasion from casual bistros, and chic sidewalk and alfresco cafes to elegant award-winning fine dining.
Agriculture
The agricultural sector is prosperous and the region has been able to attract a number of leading food manufacturers, who have not only helped to create employment but have also worked closely with the University of Newcastle in its food technology research.
National Parks and Recreation Areas
Brisbane Water National Park - Bordering the Hawkesbury River, 40 kilometres north of Sydney’s city centre, Brisbane Water National Park conserves 12,000 hectares of rugged sandstone country. It’s a great place to see wildflowers and Aboriginal engravings or for bushwalking, bird watching and sightseeing.
Munmorah State Recreation Area - 40 kilometres north of Gosford, Munmorah State Recreation Area offers opportunities for surfing, fishing, picnicking, camping, bushwalking and geological study. It’s a great place to see wildflowers and magnificent ocean views.
Bouddi National Park - On the northern entrance to Broken Bay, 20 kilomertres southeast of Gosford, Bouddi National Park offers opportunities for walking, swimming, fishing, snorkelling, picnicking, camping and observing wildlife.
Wyrrabalong National Park - Divided into two sections by The Entrance township, Wyrrabalong National Park conserves the last significant littoral rainforest on the Central Coast. You can bushwalk, swim, picnic and observe wildlife.
Yengo National Park and Parr State Recreation Area - A wild expanse of bushland between Wiseman’s Ferry and the Hunter Valley, Yengo National Park mainly conserves rugged sandstone country stretching along the foot of the Great Dividing Range.
Dharug National Park - Dharug National Park preserves a rugged sandstone landscape on the northern Bank of the Hawkesbury River, 44 kilometres from the centre of Sydney. You can camp, go bushwalking and bike riding or visit the spectacular convict-built Old Great North Road.

Port Macquarie Campus
The Port Macquarie campus of TAFE NSW- north Coast Institute, is a multi-sector campus offering both University and TAFE programs. The campus is close to the city centre, shops, cafes, bars and great surfing beaches.
Port Macquarie is three hours drive north of Newcastle.
About the Port Macquarie Region
Greater Port Macquarie is located midway between Sydney and Brisbane on the North Coast of NSW. It is only 260 km north of Newcastle, 420 km from Sydney and 510 km from Brisbane. The total area of Port Macquarie is 3,739 sqkms with a coastline of 84kms.
The topography of the area is very diverse ranging from sand dunes, coastal wetlands, flood plains and mountain regions. Glorious bays and beaches, intricate inland waterways, rainforest and rolling hinterland are just some of the attractions of the Port Macquarie region. With a beautiful climate all-year round, there is always something to do here.
The major towns are Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton, North Haven, Dunbogan, Comboyne, Kendall, Kew, Bonny Hills and Lake Cathie.
Climate
Temperature range is 7-27°C. The area enjoys one of the best climates in Australia, with the maximum daytime temperature not going above 30°C or below 15°C.
Sport and activities
There is lots to do in Port Macquarie. From golf, surfing, tennis and beach-walking to yoga horse-riding, sky diving and rock climbing there is never a shortage of activities to get involved in.
You could also visit one of the many water-front cafes or bars to while away your weekend.
Wine-making
The Greater Port Macquarie area enjoys a temperate maritime climate ideally suited to growing grapes for the production of premium tablewines.
Grape varieties harvested in the area include chardonnay, semillon, sauvignon blanc, verdelho, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and pinot noir.
Heritage
The European settlement of Port Macquarie was established in 1821, three years after John Oxley reached the region by trekking down the Hastings River from the New England area.
It is one of the oldest penal settlements outside of Sydney and Newcastle. Many early structures still stand today, along with a range of museums and interpretive centres, ideally suited to the history buff.

The University of Newcastle, Singapore
In May 2007, the University started its Singapore operations at PSB Academy's new campus near Tiong Bahru MRT station. The new campus covers an area of 19,000 square metres and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as a library, computer and science laboratories, comfortable lecture rooms and meeting rooms, as well as quiet study areas
New student facilities for recreation and overall development include a fully equipped gym, which is sponsored by The University of Newcastle, multipurpose hall, basketball and badminton court and a cricket ground. Students have access to Wireless Internet Broadband connection.
The University of Newcastle has been very successful in strengthening its position in Singapore and also it is continuing to offer a wide range of programs in different fields in Singapore in partnership with PSB Academy.
