Bachelor of Medicine - Joint Medical Program (JMP)

The Bachelor of Medicine - JMP is offered jointly by the University of Newcastle and the University of New England. The curriculum for this program will be identical at both Institutions. Candidates will have the opportunity to select the location at which they would prefer to enrol and complete the program when they lodge their JMP direct University application.

Entry requirements for the joint program are based on three components: UMAT results, UAI and interview. In 2009 there will be 160 Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) available within the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP. One hundred of these places will be at the University of Newcastle and 60 at the University of New England. Included in these places are six Medical Rural Bonded Scholarships and 40Bonded Medical Places.

Students who are able to demonstrate a significant rural background may be eligible to apply under the Rural / Remote Admissions Scheme (RRAS). Thirty percent of CSP's within the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP will be allocated to rural students entering under RRAS. Twenty percent of CSP's available at the University of Newcastle within the Bachelor of Medicine - JMP will be allocated to regional students under Dean's Regional List.
