‘Previous German students who studied at Newcastle told me about how it was small, friendly, great beaches, cheaper to live, and close to Sydney. I took some time to research the University website as well as digital pictures my friends had taken from their trips, I also took the opportunity to email some local students to ask questions and find out what life at Newcastle was like.’
‘Studies here are different to the German system in that you are constantly assessed throughout the courses. The assignments, mini tests and essays mean that I’m constantly attending to my University work, which places more pressure on me to balance my studies with my social life. The academic quality of my courses have been very good, my Finance course is very well structured, with useful information and practical teaching methods. I am studying international finance in Germany and when I return home I will have a very strong advantage after studying international topics in English at Newcastle. The variety of courses I have taken at Newcastle will help with the broad-spectrum applications I will deal with when I begin my working career in a consultancy firm.’
Living on campus for me has been an unforgettable experience. Evatt house is home to a perfect proportion of Australian and International Students. The environment nurtures my academic, social and sporting life perfectly. Newcastle University and Newcastle City offer me a relaxed lifestyle, with great weather, friendly people and there are opportunities for me to do something different every day of the week.
I would definitely recommend Newcastle as a wonderful place to enjoy life while learning in an enriching environment. Taking 4 courses is a lot of work and that should be taken into consideration if you want good marks from your studies here. Attending orientation is also very important as you receive vital information in that first week and it’s an exciting time to meet new friends. Before you decide on Newcastle make sure you find out all of the best information by talking to past students, current students and the information online. I am sure that you will find that Newcastle is the perfect place for your studies, just as I have.
