Choose Newcastle

' As a study abroad student, I wanted to get the most out of my education in Australia. After I did much research on the available higher education programs in Australia, it was clear that The University of Newcastle and the city of Newcastle itself would be able to provide exactly what I wanted both academically and socially. Needless to say, I couldn't have been happier with the university and the balance it provided. '

The Best Things

' The highlight of my experience at The University of Newcastle was my time spent living on campus in International House. I made many great friends, and I learned about other cultures and customs. Additionally, I was very pleased with the quality of education - The University of Newcastle offers a very similar Computer Engineering program to that of mine here in America, and all of my four classes transferred back to my home university perfectly. Also, I had class on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and that meant I had a four-day weekend every week to travel and experience Australia. '

Future Studies and Career

' Study abroad has allowed me to internationalize my education, and international experience is important in many careers. Moreover, I've been able to broaden my horizons, and through my experiences in Newcastle and around Australia, I've learned a lot about myself and what's important to me. '

Newcastle Life

' Newcastle is an amazing city, and there was never a time when it was hard to find something to do - I especially enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the numerous beaches, the university's bush scenery, and the great nightlife. The community was also very friendly, and it was easy to meet new people. '

Are you happy with the support?

' The faculty and staff at The University of Newcastle are extremely helpful, and it was good to know that whenever I needed academic support, it was within easy reach. Also, the staff at both International House and International Student Support Services provided excellent assistance, especially when making the transition from another country to Australia. '

My Advice

' Experience as much as you can while at The University of Newcastle, and get involved in university activities. Also, become familiar with the city of Newcastle, and find out where you can go to do all that cool stuff you've heard other people do, and do it for yourself. Similarly, travel as much as you can while in the South Pacific - book a flight with a layover in Fiji, visit New Zealand, and experience the uniqueness of the Outback. Studying at The University of Newcastle is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and there is no doubt that you'll have an amazing and rewarding time! '
