Returning home

If you're returning home after study, there are some steps to consider:

  • Shipping goods back home
  • Getting exam results, which aren't part of your academic qualification, from your institution
  • Claiming the security bond back from your rental accommodation
  • Joining relevant alumni organisations

The University of Newcastle has prepared a guide to returning home for your reference. Click here to view Going Home: A guide for international students returning to their home countries

Farewell Ceremony

To celebrate the end of your studies or time with us, we organise two International Student Farewells a year. These are for you, and other international students like you, completing your Undergraduate, Postgraduate or Research study with us, as well as Study Abroad and Exchange students heading home.

You may no longer be in Australia for the official UON graduation ceremonies, so this is for you, your friends and guests to celebrate your achievements and experiences here. It is also a chance for us to thank you for being part of our Newcastle community, and to wish you well.

Certificate and official transcript

You will be presented with a certificate at the Farewell. Your official transcript, or degree, will be sent to you after UON's formal graduations, after April or October.
