Paper tickets for public transport are being progressively phased out as the NSW transport system moves towards a single, convenient system under Opal. As a result, the 365-day international student ticket (MyMulti 2 or 3) will no longer be sold from 28 February 2016.

Travel under Opal

International students wishing to travel on public transport are highly encouraged to acquire an Adult Opal card.

Although the 90-day international student ticket will still continue to be available, international students are highly encouraged to acquire an Adult Opal card which offers a range of travel benefits including daily and weekly travel caps, free travel after eight paid and completed journeys a week and a $2.50 daily cap on Sundays.

Please take note:

  • From 28 February 2016 the 365-day international student ticket will no longer be sold.
  • Valid 365-day international student tickets purchased before 28 February 2016 can still be used for travel, but these will not be valid indefinitely.
  • Alternatively, single Adult tickets (trains, buses, ferries and light rail) and return Adult tickets (trains, ferries and light rail) are still available.
