Profile:

Milena graduated from The University of Newcastle in 2008 with a Bachelor of Social Work (Hons class 1) and is a University Faculty Medal recipient. She was appointed as a Research Assistant  to the Research Institute for Social Inclusion and Wellbeing (RISIW) in April 2009 to work on an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project entitled ‘Changing Modes: A study of the knowledge economy of human service research in Australia’ with colleagues Professor Stephen A Webb and Professor Mel Gray. This project makes a significant contribution to the development and understanding of human services research, including research that informs policy and practice approaches to promoting social inclusion in Australia. Milena plans to commence her PhD on the implementation of knowledge in the human services in 2010.


Research Interests:

  1. Knowledge production in social work

  2. The natural environment and social work

 

Current Professional Activities:

  • 2009 presenter at The international 'Social Work & Society' Academy (TiSSA) conference, Vilnius, Lithuania.
