Profile:


Ms Ma Chunlan has been an Associate Professor with the School of Foreign Languages at Northwest University for Nationalities, P. R. China (PRC) since 2001. At the moment, she is a visiting scholar at the School of Humanities and Social Science, the University of Newcastle, Australia. In 2008 she was appointed as a Conjoint Associate Professor to the Research Institute for Social Inclusion and Wellbeing (RISIW) at the University of Newcastle.

Her research interests are applied Linguistics, translation and cross-cultural communication. She is currently involved in an ongoing research project on teaching of English as a second language, with a particular focus on the role that second language culture can play in the language classroom.

Associate Professor Ma is specialized in Education. She has taught English in high schools and professional education institute in PRC. She was also involved in social work for Amity Foundation (a Chinese NGO), and managed a medical training programs for minority groups in western China from 1996-2002. Meanwhile, she served as the educational program manager for the Vocational Training Center of Gansu Education Commission from 1998-1999 and for Education Division of Gansu Health Bureau from 1995-1996.
