Dr Tom Griffiths

Dr Tom G. Griffiths: Griffiths is an established scholar in the comparative and international education field, and an authority on Latin American education (particularly Cuba and Venezuela) and world-systems analysis as a framework for comparative research. This work has been published in edited books, book chapters and international journals. Griffiths is currently co-authoring (with Imre) a volume titled Mass Education, Global Capital, and the World: The Theoretical Lenses of Istvan Mesaros and Immanuel Wallerstein, New York: Palgrave. Tom’s research has consistently sought to explore the ways in which education can contribute to understandings of the current world-system, its historical development, and influence its transition toward a more democratic, equal and just alternative. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Zsuzsa Millei

Dr Zsuzsa Millei: Millei is an expert on policy analysis and curriculum inquiry in comparative education and early childhood education in East-Central European post-socialist contexts and Australia. Her outstanding track record as an ECR, her highly productive Fellowship at FEDUA, and new staff and early career grants demonstrate her capacity to yield innovative analyses that are published in high quality peer-reviewed international journals and edited volumes. Millei’s co-edited volumes, role on editorial boards, involvement in professional bodies and the 3 highly successful confirmations and the number of RHD students (8) confirm her great capacity to be a research leader in her field.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Dr Stephanie Bengtsson

Dr Stephanie Bengtsson: Bengtsson only recently completed her doctoral dissertation, but has  already begun carving a name for herself as an up-and-coming young and talented scholar and practitioner within the field of comparative and international education. With some key academic publications and several international research projects with UNICEF, the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) under her belt, and conference presentations around the world, Bengtsson is being recognised as an expert on education in emergencies, chronic crises, and recovery and reconstruction contexts, inclusive education in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the international aid agenda.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Nisha Thapliyal

Dr Nisha Thapliyal: Thapliyal is an expert on social movements for public education and rights-based approaches to development in Brazil, India, South Africa and the USA.  Her research trajectory has earned her prestigious grants and fellowships as a doctoral student and Assistant Professor at Colgate University (USA).  She has co-authored articles with leading scholars in the field of comparative education and international development.  As a young scholar, she has served as an invited reviewer for high quality peer-reviewed international journals and edited volumes, and currently serves on the Board of the Rutu Foundation.  Her research has been published in leading international journals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Linda Newman

Dr Linda Newman: Following completion of her doctorate in 2000 Linda Newman assumed a significant management roles at the University of Western Sydney. Following a comprehensive Teaching and learning project to reconceptualise the early childhood program there she joined the development group of a research and community intervention project situated in northern Chile. In 2009 she moved to the University of Newcastle. Newman is well recognised in national and international early childhood communities for her work in professional ethics and the development of professional learning communities, tied to her co-authored volume, Working with Children and Families: Professional, Legal and Ethical Issues. Current research is focusing on community capacity building through teacher pedagogical leadership, early literacy, and visual methodology.
