Stronger Smarter Learning Communities (SSLC)
Dr Wendy Elsworth, Michael Donovan, Dr Julie McLeod have successfully won a tender to research and evaluate a national, DEEWR funded project to transform schools through the building of leadership capacity and thereby to sustain and grow improved student outcomes within Indigenous communities.
As one of the Regional Partner Research Teams, they will be researching and supporting over 40 school-community sites in both the Hunter/Central Coast region and the NSW North/West region.

ERIN, RISIW, ELFSC and EDU research collaboration
ERIN in partnership with the Research Institute for Social Inclusion and Wellbeing (RISIW), the English Language and Foundation Studies Centre (ELFSC) and the Equity and Diversity Unit (EDU) is developing a collaborative research initiative focusing on the educational pathways and experiences of students from low socioeconomic status backgrounds.
In this collaboration, ELFSC will provide access to its current student alumni of 2,500 students from the Newstep, Open Foundation, and Yapug programmes; as well as over 30,000 ex-students from its 35 year history. EDU has initiated and is developing equity programmes for school-aged students in Hunter/Central Coast region. The two Institutes will source funding for the initiative and will provide research leadership and mentoring to ELFSC and EDU staff.
This collaboration will improve inter-faculty collaboration, build a stronger research agenda within ELFSC and EDU, and develop untapped research opportunities for the FEDUA faculty in education and social wellbeing.

ERA
ERIN has been working with the School of Education Deputy Head of School Research in the ERA Cluster 4 Group, which is meeting regularly until the end of May to assist in advising Steve Hannan in the allocation of publications to our FORs. It is very important that all our FORs are fully represented to our best advantage. Our other key responsibilities are the preparation of a statement touting our publication strengths, highlights, esteem, etc., and the selection of 20 percent of our best representative publications of each FoR for peer review. This sample reflects our publication effort of researchers active as of 31 March 2009 for the period 2003 to 2008.
