SORTI
Robert Cantwell, Jill Scevak, Sid Bourke and Allyson Holbrook have recently published in eminent international company in the book Enhancing the Quality of Learning: Dispositions, Instruction and Learning Processes edited by John Kirby and Michael Lawson for Cambridge University Press. The chapter picks up on their ARC funded work on the doctoral learner. They are members of SORTI, a university centre that is nationally and internationally recognised as a leader in research on the doctorate and for its emerging work in higher order thinking and innovation in the professions. Many of the students supervised by academic staff in the centre focus on topics related to higher education and the professions. Another SORTI member, and Early Career Researcher, Kylie Shaw is taking the lead pursuing an extension of the research already underway by the larger team of Kathryn Holmes, Greg Preston, Max Smith and Sid Bourke that explores how teachers model high order thinking for secondary school students. This work is sponsored by Microsoft and NSW DEC.
