Industry Based Indigenous Scholarships (IBIS)

Industry sponsors have identified a business need and social commitment to providing sponsorship to Indigenous students, with a link back to their workplace via industry placements. Industry requirements to engage with our Indigenous students may be part of a broader link to their organisation strategic plan and/or workforce planning strategy.

Why should I Apply?

You will gain invaluable industry experience and receive financial support. Depending on your course of study, your industry placement may link to other course requirements.

The Financial Benefit

The current IBIS model scholarships range from $14,000 to $17,000 per annum depending on your area of study. The student will receive a tax free fortnightly payment into their nominated bank account.

The benefits of being an Industry Scholarship scholar are twofold: financial support while studying and the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience. Our sponsors are committed to encouraging your development which means that while on placement you are given a real responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to the organisation, You are not simply spending time with an organisation; you are learning how the corporate world operates while developing the skills necessary to be successful in  your chosen profession.

Support for Scholar

The following additional support will be provided:
- Support to assist with understanding the requirements of the scholarship
- Assistance with preparation of application, including interview skills
- Post interview feedback
- Induction to industry sponsor and Industry Scholarship program
- Industry placement visits conducted regularly
