I am influenced by many forms of surrealist work, which include movies, sound, different forms of music and also theatre, dance and expressions correlating to these. My creating processes connect to my journal and poetry writings, dreams, sounds and environments surrounding me. I encourage the subconscious and explore the reality of self-transformation and engravings, connecting with the past, present, the moulding fire furnace of life experience, the becoming of a jewel, transforming passions, and hopes of the future. This body of work concerns itself with the experimentation of various materials. In essence I was playing with steel, pine and paper to create what I consider to be a variety of interpretations of form – some strong, some delicate. Each of these works utilizes the element of repetition or multiplicity of form as their energy. Kristen Hadden
