Knit Knot

ERIN KING  RUTH FEENEY  CLAIRE PARKER   KATE PARKER  MARIE VAN-TENT

No longer is knitting pushed into the realm of being a suitable pastime for the aged and feeble minded. Knit Knot is a collaborative exhibition exploring the use of fibres and domestic ‘crafts’ in unexpected and unorthodox ways, to recreate spaces and to physically immerse viewers within the works. Ruth Feeney

Stick it Up Ya Craft

NERIDA ACKLAND

High art has evolved from craft practices and is respected as a form of creative expression. 'Craft-work' however, with its decorative approach to functional items, continues to be considered as a secondary practice, lowered to the status of 'hobby'. Stick it up ya craft is a reaction to the derogatory use of the 'c word'. Nerida Ackland

YOU’RE STANDING TOO CLOSE

JENNIFER C. STELCO

This show is a representation of those who never quite learned personal space etiquette. They make too much eye-contact, they breathe in your ear, they chew too loud and they stand far too close. There is a specific part of your brain that connects recognition to the appropriate emotion (annoyance, disturbance, pure hatred, desire to kill etc.) But sometimes faces become distorted and unrecognisable due to unnaturally close proximity. Then how do you feel? That said, this exhibition is intended to be colourful and fun. So enjoy it. Jennifer C. Stelco

Explorations of the Abstract

ABBEY CECIL, DEANNA DE VRIES & CHRISTINE HILL

Explorations of the Abstract will be a visual testament to the three separate journeys we as artists have taken to discover the intrinsic qualities of paint, colour and form. It is our hope that the genuine curiosity for textures, mediums and brush strokes illustrated in each of our works will generate an irrefutable excitement of response and as a result will urge the viewer to take their own journey exploring the abstract. Abbey Cecil, Deanna de Vries & Christine Hill

Fragments: What Makes Me

AMY BONNICI

This work explores an individual and their personality though the objects that they use and surround themselves with. Objects were selected from people that expressed who they are and what they are most passionate about. Eighteen photographs accompany four partial portraits of my subject in which I have tried to create a close and familiar relationship between my subject and the viewer while still keeping the identity of my subject anonymous.Amy Bonnici

Body. Broken

JESSICA MAIDEN

An exploration of the medicalised body; using my own body I am attempting to portray my feelings about how medications consume the body leaving traces of itself throughout. I question when the chemicals from these medications take over, altering, changing and transforming the internal, what effect does this have on the sense of self? Jessica Maiden
