Close Up
Cheryl Farrell, Andrew Kable, Ann Nicholson, Hannah Robinson
photography
Close up is a group show that explores images from the minutae of our everyday lives, to personal memories, the female body and the insecurities within our own minds.  Ann Nicholson's macro photographs seek out the multiple layers of vision from the everyday. Hannah Robinson's series of black and white portraits examine the idea of the feminine through the juxtaposition of perfect and blemished bodies, while Cheryl Farrell's black and white portraits explore the connections between the photograph, the memory and remembering.  In a series of dark, brooding photographs, Andrew Kable explores what it means to be trapped inside your own world. A home brings security, but what does it take away?

Self Portrait

Shane Lions

printmaking

Have you ever felt like you can’t escape from reality, or rather have you wanted to escape but the refuge you seek is out of reach? The humane ability to love, listen, breathe and learn have become overshadowed by modern societies’ aspiration for growth, wealth and power. Half the struggle is not just realizing the innate values of existence, it is the act of doing and the ability to turn off the television, break free from the eternal race for power and become human again. These self-portraits explore my struggle with popular existence and my desire for a purer reality. Shane Lions
