Unveiling the Hidden Discourse

CLARE MAHAFFY

ceramics

I’ve worked closely with a group of survivors of abuse and domestic violence to create a body of work that would provoke conversation on these issues. Knowing that only within the last 25 years has domestic violence been considered a criminal offence and prior to this it was viewed as a private matter not to be interfered with, I wonder how prevalent this mindset is amongst individuals and communities today. I used creative writing as a tool to give the survivors a voice and hopefully they’ll learn the value of their words. It is now up to the viewers to play their role in “Unveiling the Hidden Discourse”. Clare Mahaffy

Sweet Memories: Precious Things

ROMONA SMITH

works on paper

In December 2004 I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and post- traumatic stress. The book Sweet Memories: Precious Things allows the viewer to “enter” the often private world of an individual’s thoughts, feelings and emotions (mental, physical and spiritual) associated with an adult living with the effects of depression and post traumatic stress… Romona Smith
