When I Grow up I Want to be an Art Teacher
2nd & 3rd year Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Fine Art students
2D & 3D
This exhibition will highlight and explore works from 2nd and 3rd Year Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Fine Art students currently attending the University of Newcastle . Through this exhibition we hope to show that we are able to make works that have the same depth and concepts as those students who chose to do a straight fine art course. This exhibition is a merging together of what we have learnt, our individual styles, ideas and techniques that will allow us to give the viewer an insight to our degree not only through a fine arts perspective but also an education one. Many students in this exhibition are first timers who are keen to show their work. There are some students who have been fortunate to display their works at Watt Space previously: John Cacic, Jessica Border, Danielle Carbery, Madison Carbery, Kristen Favot and Nicole Goodland just to name a few. Video Installation/Drawings
Who is our creator? Are we our own creators? Does this give us the authority to tamper with DNA, to genetically engineer, to create Frankenstein monsters? We may be curious, but is that enough? And if we continue to strive for biological innovation, if we continue to accelerate the evolution process through scientific means, will we one day cause a biological apocalypse? Will we destroy ourselves in the process? But does evolution mean things become more complex, more advance, or does evolution simply mean change ? Luke Johnston & Chris Jones

JO DYER
Mixed media
This body of work came about by embracing the uncertainty and risk inherent in the art-making process. To me, art-making is more a process of discovery than a process of controlled creation. I find the physical properties of different media and how they respond to each other endlessly fascinating. My intention as an artist is not to control the outcome, but to let each work assert its own individuality and show me the way. Jo Dyer
