The exhibition is a collection of architectural ideas based around the city of Newcastle, and the meanings we take from living here. Some ideas take the form of possible projects within the city, while others express how buildings and the events that surround them inform our sense of place.

The exhibitors are all undergraduate and postgraduate students from the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle.

Second year students from the University of Newcastle’s Ourimbah campus Fine Art degree have come together to exhibit as a whole for the first time in this show Jigsaw. This is an opportunity for the Ourimbah students to display their works on a large, collective scale and enable the wider Newcastle community to view the surprising work these students are producing.

The students who make up the Fine Art studio at Ourimbah are from many varied backgrounds and ages.  Coming together from a large region, covering not just the Central Coast but from Sydney city to the Blue Mountains, only enhances the eclectic style of their artwork.  For many of the students, their fine art degree is only the beginning of a creative career not only in fine art but multi-media, fashion and teaching and this individuality is expressed in their work which makes for a very engaging and diverse exhibition.
