2007 Watt Space Committee

 The Watt Space Committee is formed of nine representatives, three each from the student body, the University of Newcastle and the UoN Services Limited. 

The executive positions are occupied by the three student representatives who retain those positons for twelve months.  Nominations from currently enrolled students for these positions are called for each September with elections run in November in accordance with UoN Services Limited ballot regulations.

The three University staff representatives are staff members teaching subjects within the Bachelor of Fine Art.  UoN Services Limited nominates three staff members for the Committee:  the Director of Watt Space, the Member Services Manager and  a Finance Department staff member.

The Watt Space Committee meets aprroximately every six weeks from March until December.

President

Jessica Coughlan

Jessica is an Honours candidate in Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle.  She has had extensive group and solo exhibitions since 2002 in Newcastle as well as wide curatorial experience including curating The Inquirer, 2006 Acquisitive Art Prize and Installation Art at the Peats Redge Sustainable Arts and Music Festival in December 2006. Jessica also curated installation art projects presented at Cultural Stomp in May, 2007 and the TINA Festival, October, 2007 both in Newcastle.

Secretary

Belinda Howden

Belinda is currently in third year Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle. She has exhibited in a number of group shows at Watt Space since 2005.  Belinda co-curated the Shed Show at Watt Space with Taryn Raffan in October 2007 and Make it Public 2007 Watt Space Open Show in May with Jessica and Sam. She was a contributing editor to Artofical, the Watt Space inner city spring 2007 gallery guide, and co-ordinated the Watt Space Artist's Market at Cultural Stomp, Newcastle, with Sam Galletly in May 2007.

Treasurer

Samantha Galletly

Sam completed Bachelor of Fine Art studies at the UNiversity of Newcastle in 2007. She has exhibited in a number of group and solo shows at Watt Space since 2004. Sam was the curator of Best Before, graduating show of 2006 Bachelor of Fine Art students held at Watt Space in November 2006. Her solo show Self Portrait Mode was at Watt Space in April 2007 and she co-curated Clipping  in April 2007 with Ahn Wells and Jessica Coughlan and Make it Public with Jessica and Belinda in June 2007 at Watt Space.
