Unused tourist tea towels, linen and sewing patterns tell not only the tales of the once-travell0r and their worldly experience, but often capture fading Australian cultural reference points. UNRAVELING is my deconstruction and re-weaving of other people’s discarded and forgotten life and experience while trying to re-build and understand my own.
A stranger’s neatly stored souvenir becomes a turning point in another person’s travels.

OUTRÉ JUNCTURES is an exhibition of prints and drawings by bachelor of fine arts student Skye Jacobson. Her imagery is based on life and still life, yet both contain vibrant energy. Exaggerated proportions, innovative marks and patterns are repeated or simplified within the abstracted forms. This exhibition explores the fine or perhaps invisible line  between representational inclinations and abstracted proportions.

10 Streets from Home
ISABELLE FRECKELTON

The collaboration of my ceramic and photographic production, 10 STREETS FROM HOME verifies the personal journey of considering my neighbourhood as my home. Riding a bicycle around my suburb, the unfamiliar slowly became familiar, the strange became the expected and I built up connections where once there were none. In exploring these works, the realisation that ‘home’ is not bound to the building behind property lines is motivation to appreciate our surrounds in a deeper context.
