REBECCA NOEL HOLMES
This is my final body of work for my Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Through this series of portraits of female members of the Newcastle arts community I am paying tribute to those who have influenced my own artistic practice and I am also reflecting on the people that help make Newcastle the culturally vibrant and beautiful place that it is.
REBECCA NOEL HOLMES
Portrait of a Man
This exhibition would not have been possible without the acceptance of my wonderful neighbours. They have graciously allowed me into their home and lives as a friend and it has been a great pleasure to spend time with them. My art work is more than just visual it is emotional and life changing.
Colours of New Mexico
My year in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico allowed me to explore the cultures, people, colours, light, art and scenery of this unique part of America. This exhibition includes a mix of media (encouraged by lecturers such as Adrienne Salinger, Joyce Neimanas and Carol C. Sanchez) which truly reflects the melting pot of cultures and colours of Albuquerque.
Strawberry Skies is a new fashion experience brought to you by Manon Marguerite. Fresh from Japan and bursting with colour, Strawberry Skies is cute, fantastic, unpredictable and sensationally unique. Come along and have your very own strawberry experience today!
This is Clay
This is Clay is a result of my continuing fascination in the ability of clay to reflect the properties of fabric. These bottle shapes appear to defy gravity, caught at the moment of imminent collapse, drapery suspended in time.
Parisian Bordello is a body of work undertaken in late 2010 and marked the transition from student to professional art practice. Prior to Parisian Bordello, the focus of my art practice was focused on small, easy to achieve projects and is the culmination of all the themes and ideas that have been explored since the beginning of my academic journey. These include feminism, sexuality, eroticism, identity and fantasy. The work is also highly reminiscent of a time long lost in photography.
