A Fascination With Process 2

After the success of A Fascination With Process in 2010, Watt Space presents the second annual artists-in-residence program with artists Alex Chapman, Gany Erlano, Jean-Louis Kocher, Manon Marguirette, Sigourney Nicholson and Barbie Procobis. Because we believe that there is much more to art than the end product, six student artists, working in a variety of media, will be using the main space of the gallery as their studios for three weeks. These artists welcome the public to come and watch their artworks evolve over the three weeks and talk to them about their practice. There will also be a communal art-making space so that gallery visitors can be ‘temporary artists in residence’. The Little Things

Neal Booth and Chris Brown

This exhibition was born through a mutual love and respect for the small joys in life: a small patch of moss growing on a gutter, a funny looking tree, a cool bug flitting around. For this exhibition Neal Booth and Chris Brown have engaged in the rituals of collecting, foraging, burning and nursing natural materials. Working exclusively with natural materials, Booth and Brown transform the ordinary to extra-ordinary by taking time to enjoy the little quirks and surprises in the little things. Themes such as life, death, and survival are common threads in this collaborative adventure as the works engage with the concept of time, decay, and the connection between life and the environment. Captives of Fashion
Allan Duncan

In his latest exhibition, Captives of Fashion, Allan Duncan contrasts the world of contemporary fashion with the brutality of our city’s history. This exhibition marks the beginning of Allan’s professional career as a fashion photographer after learning his craft as a Fine Art student at the University of Newcastle. The Insect World

The Insect World explores my developing interest in the wonders of minute animal life, in particular, bees and arachnids and their environments. These macro photographs provide an opportunity to get close to the daily activities of insects and the way they interact with nature and the urban environments created by man.
