Apply for Newstep at the University of Newcastle and begin your journey to university.

Newstep

How can I apply?

If you would like to study Newstep in 2015, please note that there are now two application pathways depending on which criteria you meet. Please read the two sections below to find out which application pathway you need to follow.

If you have completed the HSC or are currently completing the HSC and plan to apply through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) for admission to an undergraduate degree program in 2015, you can list Newstep as one of your preferences.

With Newstep as your final preference you will have an automatic back up plan in place.

If you are not successful in gaining entry to an undergraduate degree program, you will receive an offer to the Newstep program.

Applications for University admission are submitted on the UAC website. To apply and find out what you'll need on hand to complete the application, visit the UAC website.  Applications are open as of August 2014.

If you are NOT already applying through UAC, then you should apply for Newstep directly to the University (rather than through UAC) if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are currently completing the HSC in 2014 but are not intending to apply to UAC for admission to a University degree program.
  • You have completed the HSC previously, and will be aged between 18-20 in 2015 and wish to apply for admission to Newstep only.
  • You did not complete Year 12 and wish to apply directly to Newstep as you meet the adverse circumstances criteria listed on the Newstep 'Who Can Apply' page.

Direct applications will open on Monday 8 December 2014. Please come back and visit this page then for more details on how to apply directly to the University.
