Newcastle Business and Commerce students got a taste of the industry when former students (Alumni), now working at Google and Red Bull, spoke of their experiences at the first ever Business Breakfast.
The breakfast, organised by the Business and Commerce Student Association (Uon BusCom), provided the opportunity for current students to hear from industry leaders and make the link from textbooks, lecture theatres and tutorials to real-world careers.
UoN BusCom president Sam Baker said, “It was great to hear from Alumni who have moved on to do exciting things in the workplace. It is also refreshing to see that there is light at the end of the study tunnel in the form of employment, and that the possibilities of movement into different areas of the business environment are endless.”
UoN BusCom is planning a big year for in 2013. Along with social functions and professionally orientated networking events, sporting activities will be introduced for the first time with teams to be entered in inter faculty events and university based competitions.
Member Tim Walker said that UoN BusCom has given him the opportunity to meet people with similar interests and build connections within the industry.
