New UoN Accommodation increases opportunities to live on campus
28 May 2014
New on-campus accommodation offers a unique student experience, making it easier than ever to experience the world of on-campus living.
There's nothing quite like an on-campus residential student experience. Living within walking distance of lectures and classes, as well as being surrounded by hundreds of fellow students with common study goals, makes academic life the first focus for student residents.
But on-campus college accommodation offers so much more. With our ResLife program offering social, cultural and pastoral support, students living on campus at the University of Newcastle experience a supported community environment unlike any other. Our residents are drawn from every corner of the globe creating opportunities for residents to forge lifelong friendships with people from all around the world.
And in 2015 the University of Newcastle will open an exciting new residential development on our Callaghan campus. This new offering will more than double our student accommodation to over 1,700 beds, making it easier than ever before for students to experience the distinctive world of on-campus living.
In 2015, opportunities to live on campus will now also be available to students who currently reside within 100 kilometres of our campuses as well as students coming from rural and remote and international locations.
Our student-focused facilities include study areas, common rooms and indoor and outdoor social spaces. Reception desk services, twenty-four hour security and on-call resident support provides peace of mind for those coming to live on campus, as well as for their loved ones at home. Living on campus is a perfect transition for those leaving home for the first time or who are arriving from other towns, cities or countries.
We offer a variety of living arrangements to suit either the student wanting the ease of fully catered meal options or the flexibility of semi-catered living, through to self-catered options for the student seeking more independence. The choice of private or shared rooms and private or shared facilities also provides a range of accommodation to suit our diverse student population.
On-campus accommodation is a popular living option, so be sure to get your application in early and increase your chances of securing your preferred room style. Applications to live on-campus in 2015 are open from October 1, 2014.
