Research project: Assessing the quality and impact of education journals.
As you have come to this site, we assume that you are responding to an invitation offered by a professional association of which you are a
member to participate in a study about education journals.
Whereas some fields of study (notably science, engineering and medicine) are well served by citation indexes, education is not. But even if
it were, academic citation would be inadequate in 'practical' fields such as education, engineering and business. Although academic excellence
of journal content is highly valued, in these fields research and publication are intended, ultimately, to benefit professional practice.
We are asking you to make judgments about quality and usefulness of journals in the field of Education from your perspective. As about 1000
education journals have been identified internationally, to assist you with this questionnaire we have listed them by sub-discipline areas.
Sub-disciplines within Education will be recognized in the journal bandings to be developed. We intend to use the collected judgments of
researchers, teachers and other practitioners to band at least a proportion of education journals available. Other journals will be noted
simply as 'unbanded'.
The next page asks you for some personal and professional information, and the following three pages ask for your selections of journals
according to different criteria. Finally we invite you to provide us with some feedback on this questionnaire. As you have been advised by
your professional association, your responses to this questionnaire will be anonymous. No information which identifies you in any way will
be accessible to the researchers unless you choose to identify yourself in some other way.
Thank you in anticipation of your assistance in this study.
