Volunteer for the Newcastle Special Olympics

The Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games will be staged in the City of Newcastle and across the Hunter Region over 10 days from November 28th to December 8th 2013. This will be the largest sports and community event ever staged in Newcastle with 2,500 athletes and coaches from 32 Asia Pacific nations and an expected 200,000 spectators. 

There will be Opening and Closing ceremonies and Athletes will compete in 10 different sports at a number of Newcastle sporting venues, including The Forum.

Over 5000 local volunteers are currently being recruited. The organising committee are not only seeking general volunteers but those with a health or sporting related backgrounds. The Games needs volunteer nurses, medical officers, physiotherapists, dentists & oral hygienists, dieticians, podiatrists and many more health fields.

Interpreters with Asian language skills are needed to support sporting events and medical teams. Volunteers with a sporting background are also needed.

Becoming an official volunteer would allow you to make a difference in the lives of intellectually disabled athletes. To be a Volunteer you only need to be able to assist at a minimum of 4x4hour sessions.
