Toastmasters club now on campus
A newly established Toastmasters International club has been formed on campus to help teach public speaking and leadership skills to a range of people from various nationalities and professions. The non-profit educational organisation teaches these skills through a worldwide network of clubs.
The NUni Toastmasters Club is made up of more than 30 staff, student and community members and was officially opened on October 31, 2012. University student Sherelle Hendriks worked with experienced Toastmasters members Janelle Walker and Stephen Hallinan to develop the club.
During each meeting members have the opportunity to practice impromptu speaking and prepared presentations with other members to receive helpful feedback and help improve communication skills and confidence.
