Faculty of Science and Information Technology Year 11 Excellence Awards

The Faculty of Science and Information Technology at the University of Newcastle is keen to encourage academic excellence in high school students.

In 2013, the Faculty is providing the opportunity to recognise five (5) Year 11 students from high schools within the state with an Achievement Award in fields linked directly to our teaching and research, including:

  • Communication (English)
  • Design (Visual arts etc)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Information Technology

Teachers are required to nominate students for the award by completing a Nomination Form.

A new form will need to be completed for each student nominated. This form requires details such as the student's name, field of nomination and a short 100-200 word statement outlining what the student has achieved in this area.

Each student nominated for an award by their School will receive a Highly Commended Award certificate from the Faculty of Science and Information Technology.

The Faculty will then choose one student from each of the above disciplines, a total of five (5) students overall, to receive an Achievement Award. These students will receive an Achievement Award certificate and a Westfield gift voucher worth $500 for outstanding achievement in their field of excellence.

If your school would like to participate please complete and submit the Nomination Form by Friday 25 October, 2013.
