
Community Outreach Program
Current students will have the chance to travel to the Kupang Regency (West Timor) in Indonesia next January as part of a community outreach program.
The Faculty of Science and Information Technology will sponsor 10 students to work with locals and carry out projects that will benefit the community as a whole.
Dates: January 12 to 30, 2014
Inclusions: Return airfares, accommodation, meals, transfers within Indonesia (transfers to and from home to Sydney Airport are not included)
This program is being run in conjunction with Petra Christian University, Unika Widya Mandura and World Vision. Successful applicants will work with Petra Christian University students in teams with locals to carry out beneficial projects for the community.

To be eligible for an AsiaBound scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

Must have completed 140 units of study by December 2013

Be enrolled in a degree within the Faculty - ideally Bachelor of Development Studies, Bachelor of Environmental Science or Bachelor of Science
Please submit an up-to-date CV, your name, student number, degree and an Expression of Interest (max 250 words) that explains why you want to participate and what you hope to achieve from the experience to: FSCIT-international@newcastle.edu.au
Submissions close on Monday September 30, 2013. Successful applicants will be notified by October 31.
To be able to take part, you will be enrolled in SCIT3000 or ENVS3008 and will receive 10 units upon successful completion of the community outreach rogram.
