Studying in Singapore
The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment offers several offshore programs that enable holders of relevant Diplomas from approved Polytechnics to upgrade to a Bachelor degree whilst they continue to work in Singapore. We currently offer undergraduate programs in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer and Mechatronics Engineering through our partner institution PSB.
Undergraduate Programs with PSB Academy, Singapore
Bachelor of Engineering, full-time program
Electrical and mechanical engineering undergraduate degree programs are offered through a 4-year accelerated full time day program. These programs are specifically designed with the objective of giving fresh GCE 'O' level holders or equivalent qualifications a head-start to an undergraduate degree programme.
The Year 1 Foundation Year comprises of pre-university studies which are meant to prepare students for the undergraduate work that formally begins in Year 2. The accelerated schedule then allows a typical five-year program of study to be completed within four (4) years. In addition, students will also be able to transfer to the part-time night program at a later stage, or enjoy the benefits of transferring and completing studies on campus in Australia.
Bachelor of Engineering, part-time program
This program is delivered in Singapore by the staff of the University of Newcastle and PSB Academy and allows specialisations in the disciplines of electrical, mechanical and mechatronics engineering. Students who have completed eligible studies for entry into the program, with a minimum level of credit, are able to complete the program in a minimum duration of three years.
The programs are structured so that students can continue to work full-time while studying. There are six modules (or blocks) per year, with 10 units of courses taught in each module. The courses are structured around working hours.
Entry Requirements
To gain entry to these programs, you must hold a related Polytechnic Diploma from an approved Polytechnic and have maintained a B/C Grade average throughout the Diploma.

In particular, we have clearly established advanced standing transfer arrangements for graduates of Singapore Polytechnics.
On the application form for admission to the University of Newcastle you should indicate if you are applying for credit based on previous studies. If you do wish to be assessed for advanced standing please ensure that all relevant course descriptions as well as academic results are supplied with your application.
