Bridging courses

To be a successful engineer, you will need to develop skills in logic, numeracy and communication.

In order to develop these skills, students will need to have good results in Mathematics, Physics and English. If you're enrolling in one of our degrees and don't feel confident with maths, or if you feel like you would like a refresher, you might find that one of our bridging courses will give you a head-start on your studies.

Bridging courses can be undertaken before the semester starts, and cover subjects such as maths, physics, chemistry, and general academic survival skills. The courses are absolutely free and can mean the difference between surviving and thriving as you undertake your degree.

If you have completed HSC General Maths it is recommended that you undertake the Foundation Mathematics bridging course and undertake MATH1002 in semester one.

If your HSC 2 Unit Maths score was low, or if you're not confident with calculus, you should consider undertaking the Introduction to Undergraduate Mathematics bridging course.

We strongly encourage you to complete the maths diagnostic quiz in order to find out what level of mathematics is most appropriate for your skill level.

Remember to reach out if you're struggling. Your faculty and Learning Development are here to help and run a range of support services, workshops and PASS sessions throughout the semester to make sure that you’re getting the most out of your time at the University.
