Aims
The Writing Centre aims to:
- Explore and disseminate a range of approaches to teaching writing established internationally
- Identify, and develop exemplars of, the principles and practices related to writing-intensive instruction that indicate quality learning and teaching approaches in an Australian tertiary context
- Develop and trial a coordinated and cross-faculty approach to the learning and teaching of best practice writing instruction, including an ongoing training program and collaborative course development across disciplines
- Develop a range of scholarly teaching and learning resources to support coordinated writing instruction programs across disciplines at the University of Newcastle, including a transportable online resource package for staff
- Embed the resource package in Faculty teaching and learning plans and Learning Development units
- Develop and maintain networks of writing-intensive educators to facilitate and sustain further work in the field
