Katie and Ari Graduate Together

A very special graduate crossed the Great Hall stage at the Faculty of Education and Arts graduation ceremony on Thursday 4 April. Katie Butler has had her trusted guide dog, Ari, with her throughout her studies for her Bachelor of Social Science degree, and has now graduated with distinction with her canine companion at her side.

Katie, who is vision impaired, began training with Ari one month before starting the University preparation course, Newstep. Given that he has been such an integral part of Katie's university life it only seemed fitting that he too should graduate, so he is now the proud owner of a certificate to acknowledge his support during Katie's university study.
