Complying with the Australian Qualification Framework
The AQF (Australian Qualification Framework) is a national framework for qualifications that all self-accrediting higher education providers need to comply with. The University is required to demonstrate AQF compliance for all programs by January 1 2015 and the Academic Senate will oversee the process.
In 2015, TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency) will audit the University in regards to the compliance of our academic programs with AQF standards.
What is required?
Achieving AQF compliance will mean something different for each of our programs depending on the program level, and whether it already meets the relevant AQF Level Descriptors.
- All programs will need a Graduate Attribute and Learning Outcomes Map, Transition Plan and checks against University policy.
- Some programs may require a program revision and/or assessment changes.
- In some cases a whole new program will be required and possibly a Business Plan.
Each program has a timeline for compliance.
This needs to be a team effort
Your Deputy Head of School (Teaching and Learning) and Program Convenor will be able to let you know what is happening with your program. If you're a Course Coordinator of a core or compulsory course, you will be involved. This is a team effort!
Do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the process:
- AQF Project Officer, Elizabeth Bridges
- QA Teaching and Learning Officer, Sally Curzi
- Assistant Dean (Teaching and Learning), Dr Jennifer Archer
More Information can be found on the AQF Toolkit.
