ARC Discovery Project (DP) Support for Newcastle Chief Investigators
Funding will be targeted and released over the course of the development of the Discovery Grant application. The aim is to ensure high quality, competitive grant applications. There will a number of stages, the completion of which will enable funding to be provided to the Lead CI for the ongoing development of the grant application. Specifically, non-attendance at a Workshop means that the funding for that Workshop will not be made available. For colleagues who are overseas for SSP or other approved Faculty business or are required to teach when a Workshop is scheduled then the prior submission of the relevant paperwork for that Workshop will be deemed as an attendance and hence will earn the funding arising from that Workshop. Note that funding levels differ for teams and solo applications: Applications involving teams with two or more CIs = $12,000; and Solo CI Applications = $7,000.

- All applications must go through the development process described above unless explicit exemption from one or more of the workshops is granted by the ADR.
- All grant applications must be peer reviewed by the Faculty's paid external research grant consultant (or other suitably qualified grant reviewer as approved by the ADR).
- In normal circumstances applications that have not made use of the development and review process will not be supported by the Faculty (and hence will not be accepted by the Research Office for submission to the ARC).
- Senior researchers with established ARC track records may apply to the ADR for exemption from one or more of the above conditions.
