As part of the Lucy Mentoring Program's 35 hour work based activity I was asked whether I would like to be mentored by a HR Generalist for a large multi national organisation in Sydney. I jumped at the opportunity and found myself working with my mentor the following week on a $300 million contract. My time with my mentor provided me with an insight into the HR environment. I found that I loved the challenge of supporting the firm's global employees whilst meeting the company's strategic goals. I learnt a lot from my mentor and really enjoyed working with the organisation. A few months later I was asked to interview for a role within the organisation's HR Support team for Australia and New Zealand. I got the job and am now working full-time. Without the Lucy Mentoring Program I doubt I would have had access to such an amazing opportunity. I encourage all young women within the Faculty of Business and Law to apply for the program and make the most of an invaluable resource.
