Visits and Delegations

On 22 August 2011, the Faculty held a welcome morning tea for students from PSB.
On 10 August 2011, the Faculty through Strathfield College hosted a delegation of high school students from Qingdao, China.
On 13 July 2011, the Faculty hosted a delegation visit from KYM International, Malaysia.
On 21 June 2011, the Faculty hosted a delegation visit from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies China. During this visit a Collaborative Research Agreement was signed.
On 18 and 19 May 2011, Professor Fumio Itoh, President of ABEST21 visited the Faculty.
On 5 May, the Faculty hosted a delegation visit from Hunan Education Department, China.
On 3 May, the Faculty provided a workshop to a delegation of 12 from Beijing Overseas Education Co, China.
On 19 April, the Faculty hosted a delegation visit from San Beda College, Philippines. During the visit a Postgraduate agreement was signed.
On 28 March, the Faculty hosted the Shangri-La Alliance Lecturer Review session, organised by Tony Drew, for the academics from 4 Chinese universities.
Professor Chen Wei is a visiting academic with the School of Law for the period February 2011 to May 2011. Professor Chen Wei's will focus on the development of clinical legal education during his visit.
On 8 December 2010, a delegation from BIEI visited the Faculty.
On 13 and 14 December 2010 a delegation from Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, China visited the Faculty. During the visit an Undergraduate Agreement was signed.
On 2 November 2010, a delegation from Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai visited the Faculty.
On 18 November 2010, 26 students and 8 staff from Strathfield College visited the Faculty.
On 18 November 2010 Mr Andy Lunarjanto, Head of Program-Undergraduate, School of Marketing, Binus International visited the Faculty.
On 25 and 26 October 2010 President Fumio Itoh visited the Faculty and presented seminars to staff on the following -

On Tuesday, 5 October 2010 Dr Durrani (Vice-Chancellor) and Dr Arif (Dean of Business) from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan, as well as the High Commissioner of Pakistan, H E Ms Fauzia Nasreen visited the Faculty. During the visit a Research Agreement was signed.
Jiangxi Agricultural University
On Friday, 23 April 2010 a delegation from Jiangxi Agricultural University visited the Faculty to meet with staff and students. During the delegation visit, an Undergraduate 2+2 Agreement was signed.
On 22 April 2010 a delegation from Jilin University visited the Faculty to meet with staff and to discuss future collaborations.
On 22 April 2010, Suhail Dazivi, Chief Executive, Auspak International, Pakistan visited the faculty.
On 3 February 2010, Dr Minshen Zhu, Principal of the Top Education Group, met with staff of the Faculty to discuss mutual areas of cooperation.
From 19 February 2010 to 28 February 2010, Professor Shuming Zhao, Dean, School of Business, Nanjing University, visited the Faculty to undertake research on "Restructuring of Foreign Subsidiaries in China" with Professor Stephen Nicholas, Dr Rebecca Mitchell and Dr Brendan Boyle.
During Professor Shuming Zhao visit he also taught an intensive International HRM course to students and met with the Faculty HRM group, including PhD students to discuss research and current HRM practices and policies in Chinese domestic firms and foreign MNE's in China.
As part of the Collaborative Research and Teaching Agreement between the School of Law, Faculty of Business and Law and the School of Law, Beihang University, Dean Long Weiqui and Professor Xinqiang visited the Faculty to conduct joint research and seminars on Contract Law.
Malaysian Alumni Chapter
On 25 May 2009, Tze May Lai, Trustee and Founder of the Malaysian Alumni Chapter visited the Faculty. Tze May Lai works very closely with the University of Newcastle Alumni and the Manager, University Alumni.
National University, Singapore
On 23 November 2009, Professor Tilak Abeysinghe, Professor of Economics, National University of Singapore visited the Faculty of Business and Law and presented a seminar to research students and staff of the Faculty on "Does the IV estimator establish causality? Re-examining Chinese fertility-growth relationship".
Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia
On 12 October 2009, Professor Mustafa from the Faculty of Economics, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) visited the University to discuss possibilities of USIM academic staff undertaking a PhD program at the Faculty.
Nanjing University, China
As part of the Faculty of Business and Law and the School of Business, Nanjing University Research Collaboration Agreement, Professor Shuming Zhao, Professor and Dean of Nanjing University, visited the Faculty to discuss, joint research developments. During Professor Zhao's visit he also presented a seminar to Faculty PhD students on "HRM Research in China and how to be a successful PhD Student".
University of International Business and Economics, China
On 27 July 2009, Professor Fuming Wang, Professor of International Business at the University of International Business and Economics, China, visited the Faculty to liaise with staff regarding the operations of the articulation agreement.
Chinese Consulate General - Consul Gang Bai
Professor Bai, Head of the Education Office of the Chinese Consulate General visited the Faculty of Business and Law to discuss the Faculty's research and teaching collaborations in China.
During Consul Bai's visit to the Faculty he met with Professor Stephen Nicholas, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Business and Law, Professor Gordon Boyce, Director of the Centre for Institutional and Organisational Studies and Dean of the Newcastle Business School and Associate Professor Amir Mahmood, Deputy Head of Faculty and Assistant Dean International. Professor Bai also met with researchers on China, including, Dr James Zhang, Mr Antony Drew, Dr Frank Agbola and Ms Karen Tian.
Chinese students of the Faculty also had the opportunity to meet Consul Bai. The days events were facilitated by Eric Shi.
Universite de La Rochelle, France
On 21 April 2009, Annaig Rabah from Universite de La Rochelle visited the Faculty to discuss the possibility of establishing a short study exchange program.
Walter Sisulu University, South Africa
On 4 February 2009, the Faculty of Business and Law hosted a visit by Professor Loyiso Mbabane from Walter Sisulu University, South Africa.
Yunnan University of Finance and Economics
Professor Luo Mingyi, Chairman of University Committee – Professor Lin Hao, Director of University Office – Professor Yan Gang, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office – Professor Xu Nanyuan, Dean of Tourism – Professor Wang Min, Vice-Dean of International Business School, from Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, China, visited the Faculty on 13 February 2009 to discuss the development of a mutually beneficial relationship between institutions.
Beijing Foreign Studies University, China
On 13 October 2008 Associate Professor Ying Weiwei, Associate Professor in Finance, Deputy Director, Treasury Department, presented a Faculty seminar to staff on "The Chinese Currency and the Revaluation Issue".
Nanjing University, China
Professor Shuming Zhao, Dean, School of Business, Nanjing University, China presented the Occasional Address at our Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, 9 October 2008 at 10.00am.
Prof Zhao also presented a Seminar on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 for members of Faculty of Business and Law Academic Staff, the topic being: "Economic Reform in Human Resource Management in China".
Directly following the Seminar an Agreement was signed between the University of Newcastle and the Nanjing University. (link back to research partners)
Superior University, Lahore, Pakistan
On 8 January 2008, the Faculty hosted a delegation from Superior University, Pakistan, to negotiate undergraduate and postgraduate articulation arrangements.
Since Superior University's visit to the Faculty, Undergraduate and Postgraduate articulation agreements have been established. In December 2008, Professor Stephen Nicholas, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Associate Professor Amir Mahmood, Deputy Head of Faculty and Assistant Dean, International visited Superior University to attend the launch of the joint program.
