Higher Degrees by Research

The Faculty of Health offers Research Higher Degrees at the Masters and PhD levels, with students embarking on a significant research project. In the process students complete a thesis, detailing their journey and their findings, examined by a panel of external reviewers. The PhD by research is the highest degree awarded by the University, and is the gateway to an exciting career in health research. The average completion time for these programs is 2 years full time for the research Masters, 4 years full time for the PhD.

The Faculty of Health currently boasts over 230 research higher degree students, in a wide range of fields. We are ranked as one of the top ten research institutes in the country, and this year has been our best ever for nationally competitive grants, with fantastic funding in place to support research students.

Research Higher Degree candidates select their own research topic and work closely with an academic supervisor to produce a thesis that is examined by external examiners prior to award.
