  • Exceptional Growth in Taree

The UDRH and RCS in Taree are growing so rapidly that they have outgrown the building they moved to just one year ago. Fortunately, Dr. Alan Pedersen, Senior Lecturer – Medicine and Daryl Newell, Administration Officer managed to locate some additional space. Effective from the 1st August, the UDRH and RCS staff and students will have access to three tutorial rooms conveniently located across the road from their present location in Commerce St Taree. It is hoped that this will help them through their accommodation crisis.

The Taree Education Centre in July 2008 had approximately 50 students of varying disciplines located in the community and on placement at Manning Rural Referral Hospital. In the first six months of this year it recorded its highest activity in its short history of just under 600 student weeks. This compares to 200 student weeks in 2006 and 460 student weeks in 2007. Plans are also underway to increase student activity in the Medical and Allied Health disciplines.
The three new tutorial rooms will allow educators and tutorial staff to conduct education sessions simultaneously with privacy and also allow for Medical students to undertake end of rotation examinations.
