Program Tuition and Assessment

Building ConstructionThe program is conducted using distance learning materials developed and produced by the University of Newcastle.

A key feature of the distance learning degree is the regular study group meetings which are organised by the program administrative agent, TMC Centre for Advanced Education (Singapore). The study groups provide additional support and guidance and are a valuable supplement for Singapore based students. These study groups are conducted by qualified local academic administrators who act on behalf of the Course Coordinators in Newcastle.

At regular intervals students are required to submit assignments to their Course Coordinators in Australia. TMC arranges for the collection of student assignments and return of feedback. Once the assignment is corrected, the written reports/results are returned to the students so that the Course Coordinator’s comments and feedback can assist the student in his/her study program.

Students are assessed by examination, assignments and continuous assessment. Formal examinations, conducted at the end of every fourth course are the same as for students attending the University of Newcastle in Australia. In addition, students are either required to complete 16 weeks of practical experience or should be employed in the Construction Industry.
