Exhibition talk on Carl Andre
|Start Date||Saturday, 6 September 2014, 02:00 pm|
|End Date||Saturday, 6 September 2014, 03:00 pm|
This is part of the exhibition 'one from none: The minimal aesthetic in art', which brings together diverse works of art from the Newcastle Art Gallery collection where actual space becomes more powerful than depicted space, and where artists push the boundaries of material usage.
In his recent article in The Conversation: Three questions not to ask about art – and four to ask instead, which has currently been read by over 50,000 people, Dr Messham Muir looks at common questions such as, Why is that art? and What is it meant to be?
During his talk at Newcastle Art Gallery, he will further this discussion by addressing questions such as, What is minimalist art? Where does it fit into the recent past in modern art, and how did it come about?
