The National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) and the Community Environment Network (CEN) will be coordinating a Central Coast Bioblitz event on Saturday, 7 September, 2013 in Bouddi National Park.

A Bioblitz comprises a group of scientists, naturalists and ‘citizen scientists’, students and community volunteers who work together to discover, identify and record the diversity of living things within an area of the National Park in Killcare Heights.

The Central Coast Bioblitz is a celebration of biodiversity.  Biodiversity describes the variety of life - animals, plants, their habitats and their genes within an area, all opf which work together to give the essentials of life, including oxygen, food, fresh water, fertile soil, fuel and a stable climate. It is biodiversity which makes our planet liveable!

The aim of the Central Coast Bioblitz is to document as many species of flora and fauna as possible located in Bouddi National Park, within a 24 hour period. The event is also focused on informing the broader community about the importance of biodiversity to our environment and of the value of our National Parks.

Volunteers are needed on the day for tasks such as the assisting at the registration desk, assisting leaders in the field and entering data and photos gathered on the day.
