Volunteer Callout for the Hunter Memory Walk & Jog
The second Hunter Memory Walk & Jog will be held on Sunday, 8 September at Speers Point Park, Lake Macquarie, and Alzheimer's Australia is seeking volunteers to help make the day a success.
Building on the highly successful inaugural Hunter Memory Walk & Jog, held in September last year, organisers are expecting up to 1500 people to take part in this year's fundraising and awareness-raising event.
There are an estimated 10,000 people living with dementia in the Hunter region, this is expected to increase to an estimated 37,000 people by 2050.
Memory Walk & Jog entrants are encouraged to raise money to help reach a fundraising target of $150,000 to help people living with dementia, their families and friends.
To volunteer at the Hunter Memory Walk & Jog on Sunday, 8 September (Note: volunteers are required to sign in at 6.00am), please contact Diana Waring from Alzheimer's Australia on diana.waring@alzheimers.org.au or phone 02 8875 4631.
A briefing will be held in the Alzheimer's Australia offices at 2 Percy St, Hamilton on Wednesday 21 August, with a day session from 1-2pm and an evening session from 6-7pm. If volunteers are unable attend a briefing session or register to volunteer after Wednesday, Alzheimer's Australia will provide a Volunteer Pack with all the details.
