To Be Shore to Shore
'To Be Shore To Shore' has become an annual event on the eve of St Patrick's Day. Held at the Royal Exchange Salon Theatre in Bolton St, Newcastle, this celebration of Irish culture and character features singer and songwriter Maureen O'Brien's 'Borderless' project as well as a variety of guests sharing Irish music, song, dance and stories.
'Borderless' explores the settlement of Irish women into Australia in Colonial days.
While much is recorded in our history of the contribution made by the men who settled this country, the women's contribution is given little regard. These women left a legacy to subsequent generations, characteristics that define Australian women today.
The Borderless presentation contains plenty of little-known facts about the lives of early Irish settler women, as well as stories and anecdotes interspersed with songs.
Tickets for To Be Shore to Shore are $16 ($14 concession) with group discounts also available.
