The Alumni Advantage over Bacon and Eggs
UoN graduates from electrical engineering, the Newcastle Business School and speech pathology returned to the University recently to share their experiences since graduating with students from their respective degrees.
More than 100 students from the Callaghan campus turned up to listen to graduates with up to 30 years experience share their knowledge and lessons learnt since entering the workforce.
The graduates offered advice on how students can prepare for the workplace before finishing uni, including work experience; the most effective way to find and apply for a job; and the current market situation.
Business student Rebecca Lavis found the Alumni Advantage breakfasts incredibly useful.
"Kristi Granata from Hunter Water was excellent," she said.
"She provided information that directly answered all of my questions and gave me confidence in how to approach life after uni.
"She was very laid back, yet professional, and is an inspiration to what I want to become."
The Alumni Advantage Breakfast for Development Studies is happening on 30 October.
If you are a UoN graduate who would like to share your experiences and inspire the next cohort of graduates from your degree, the alumni team would love to hear from you. Please contact alumni@newcastle.edu.au
