Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Relay For Life
An exciting new area called Fightback Alley has been added to the activities at this year's Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Relay For Life, to be held once again at the Hunter Sports Centre at Glendale on 2-3 November.
Relay For Life is a fun family event where teams of 10-15 participate in a relay-style walk or run to raise funds for the Cancer Council. This event brings the whole community together for a night of fun, entertainment, celebration and remembrance.
With the aim of promoting healthy living in a friendly and interactive environment, Fightback Alley will feature stalls from local companies and organisations providing key health messages to the community. Participants can collect stamps in a 'Health Passport' by completing activities at selected stalls in Fightback Alley. Participants who collect all their Health Passport stamps can enter into a draw to win prizes.
There will also be live entertainment on stage throughout the day as well as games, activities, fitness classes, food stalks and a fireworks display at night time. There is also a Midnight 5k running event on the world class Hunter Sports Centre track.
It's easy to be part of this year's Newcastle/Lake Macquarie Relay For Life:
* To register a team for the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie event, visit the Relay For Life website.
* Local companies and organisations wishing to participate in Fightback Alley can contact the Volunteer Organising Committee on 02 4923 0702.
The University of Newcastle has a team up and running. Staff and students are welcome to register in this team or create their own. Visit the Uni Team's Relay for Life page for more information.
Relay For Life is about getting involved and being part of something great. Relays are occasions where tears are shed, hopes are raised, fun is had and friendships are forged. There are no age restrictions, and you don't have to be fit - anyone can do it.
